WHEN OUR BRETHREN SUFFER, WE CANNOT LOOK AWAY

On 16 June 2026, the Christian community of Ungwan Magaji, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was subjected to a horrific attack by Fulani militia.

Nine people were murdered and eleven others were critically injured. Among those brutally killed were four innocent children, aged between four and six years. Even the tender age and helplessness of these children did not move the attackers to show mercy.

It was against the background of this tragedy that Lay Faithful Trust Foundation planned a food-relief intervention for the affected Christian community in July.

WE ARRIVED TO FIND ANOTHER TRAGEDY

When the Lay Faithful team arrived in the Ungwan Magaji area, we discovered that the situation had become even more devastating. During the night immediately preceding our arrival, the community had been attacked again.

This time, 30 Christians were killed and six others injured.

The people we had come to comfort and support were once again mourning their loved ones. Fear and tension had gripped the community. The situation was so precarious that, for the safety of everyone involved, the planned distribution point had to be moved to another location within the environs.

It is difficult to adequately describe what our team witnessed.

We came carrying food and financial assistance, expecting to meet people still struggling to recover from the June massacre. Instead, we found a community once again counting its dead.

The suffering had continued. The killing had continued. The grief had continued. And yet, in the midst of their pain, our brethren welcomed the assistance with gratitude.

A LITTLE HELP IN THE MIDST OF GREAT SUFFERING

Through the generosity of donors and supporters of Lay Faithful Trust Foundation, food and cash assistance were provided to Christians affected by the attacks in Ungwan Magaji and surrounding communities.

The relief may not have erased their pain. It could not bring back the fathers, mothers and children who had been murdered. It could not undo the trauma or restore the homes and livelihoods disrupted by violence. But it sent an important message:

You are not forgotten. Your fellow Christians remember you. You are not suffering alone.

The brethren expressed their deep appreciation to Lay Faithful Trust Foundation and, especially, to every Christian whose contribution made the intervention possible. Their gratitude belongs to God, and to you — the brethren who gave.

THE GREATEST NEED IS SECURITY

As grateful as we are to have been able to provide emergency relief, we must be honest about the reality confronting these communities.

Food is desperately needed. Cash assistance is needed. Medical care and reconstruction are needed. But above all, these communities need SECURITY.

No amount of humanitarian assistance can substitute for the protection of human life. Our brothers and sisters in Southern Kaduna, the Middle Belt and other parts of northern Nigeria should not have to depend indefinitely on relief after surviving one massacre after another.

They have a right to live. They have a right to security.

There must therefore be concerted efforts—locally and internationally—to compel the Federal Government of Nigeria to fulfil its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians.

The killing must stop. The bloodshed has gone on for far too long.

THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH OUR SUFFERING BRETHREN

At Lay Faithful Trust Foundation, we remain deeply grateful to every donor and supporter who continues to stand with persecuted and displaced Christians.

Your generosity is more than financial assistance. It is Christian solidarity in action.

We pray that Almighty God will continually bless every person who contributed to this relief mission. May He replenish every gift, reward every sacrifice and prosper the work of every donor.

Your brother in Christ,

Once again, we thank all the brethren who stand with the persecuted Christians in Nigeria and generously donate to succour them. Your kindness reflects the Light that darkness cannot comprehend. God bless you, replenish you, and preserve you from every evil in the land.

Your brother in Christ,
Bosun
