Umogidi Itekpa, a Christian community in Benue state, was attacked by Fulani herdsmen in an unprovoked assault in 2024. The attacks follow a repeated pattern by the Fulani militia against the indigenous Christian ethnic nationalities in Benue state. This assault left 34 people dead and four in intensive treatment from fatal wounds. At the same time, over 130 houses were either burnt or vandalized. As the dust settled from the latest barbaric attack by the Fulanis, thirty wives realized their husbands were no more. They were widows.

The relief distribution by Lay Faithful made a deep impression on the community. They narrated that no government agency or any non-governmental organization had visited to enquire about their welfare or to provide them with any relief since the attack. The Lay Faithful Trust Foundation was the first organisation to bring help and succour to them. They expressed gratitude to the Christian brethren who donated funds to send help to them. They also prayed for the donors.

We thank all the brethren who donated funds to help our persecuted brethren. God bless you and reward you abundantly. We also thank the Lay Faithful team in Benue State for faithfully executing the relief project.

As we thank our donors, we pray that more Christians will participate in this labour of love for the persecuted Christians. The Lord reminds us that, 'Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.' Matt. 25:40.

This year, we aim to raise 34,000 Christians who will donate a minimum of N500 monthly to support persecuted Christians. Please join us to reach out to Christians and Church leaders.
