Relief Distribution of Clothes to IDPs Maiduguri, Borno State

Lay Faithful Trust Foundation conducted relief distribution of clothes to IDPs in Maiduguri, Borno State on 9th February 2024. The IDPs are accommodated at the State CAN Centre. There are seven other IDP camps hosting Christians in Maiduguri. The available resources could not reach the remaining seven IDP camps.

The brethren at the camp revealed that they could neither farm nor have access to employment to sustain themselves. They are solely dependent on the support they receive from their brethren. The government provides support to victims of the insurgency, however, such support rarely reaches the Christian IDPs.

As the persecuted brethren expressed appreciation for the clothes, they requested for additional support in the following areas:
1.    Food
2.    Education support for the children
3.    Medical facilities
4.    Government support to return home.

The camp started in 2014 and many of the brethren have been constrained to remain at the same location since then. The pictures from camp show the distressing situation that the brethren are in. These are people who were living decent lives before Islamist insurgents invaded their homes and caused them to flee.

We use this medium to appeal to kind-hearted Christians to join us in reaching out to high income brethren to support the ministry to the persecuted brethren. The initial quotation that was received to purchase food for brethren in one camp has tripled previous costs due to the hyperinflation in the country. It would cost a tidy sum of money to reach the eight IDP camps with support. The involvement of more Christians is required.

We thank all the brethren who donated clothes for the IDPs. We appreciate VFC and Bola Memorial Anglican Church for gathering and storing much of the clothes for the project. We also thank Bro. David for executing the project.
